Social Health Protection Initiative-GB (Micro Health Insurance)

On the request of Government of Pakistan, the German Government committed 10 million EUR as grant for Social Health Protection (SHP) in the framework of Financial Cooperation (FC). These funds are intended to support for the development of Social Health Protection in Gilgit-Baltistan. The Government of GB, as the executing agency for the use of funds selected District Gilgit for implementation of the project. Using Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) data (cut of 16.17 PMT) the eligible poorest (21%) households from district Gilgit are benefiting from this scheme. In addition, 29 % of households from the remaining 79% population with PMT scores >16.17 are offered voluntary health insurance that is similar to BISP or pro-poor insurance scheme in the terms of services that is inpatient and maternity-related care.
