Health is a basic fundamental right of all. This principle underpins the development of all progressing societies. In Gilgit Baltistan (GB), the health department is struggling in providing the most essential services to its people and lags behind almost all other providing/federating areas.
The UHC Essential Package of Health Services (EPHS) is a policy framework for strategic services provision based on scientific evidence on health intervention. The purpose is to ensure that all people have access to essential health services particularly in the context of limited resources and help to establish and clarify health priorities and direct resource allocation accordingly.

The exercises were undertaken, as part of the process of developing the Essential Package of Health Services (EPHS)/ Universal Health Coverage (UHC) – Benefit Package of GB, reveals that the burden of disease in GB is very, whereas essential health services are lacking the services that are available, there does not reach many in G . Various health system and cross-sectorial issues plague the process in the health services delivery in Gb. Within the health system, there is a severe shortage of skilled health workforce
The development o the Essential Package of Health Services (EPHS)/UHC Benefit Package of GB offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change the health sector landscape.
The GB EPHS for the people provides the way forward to better health for the people of GB. The Health Department resolves to make available all human, financial, infrastructure, policy formulation, and administrative resources needed to ensure the successful implementation of the EPHS of GB
